Evidence and Validation: What We Are Building and Testing

We do not believe in deploying untested theoretical software into vulnerable communities. eSafeRIDE is currently in an active validation and pilot phase, structured to generate rigorous, real-world evidence before wider institutional deployment.

Our core validation framework revolves around a controlled pilot cohort comprising 30 students with diverse physical impairments and 20 informal transport operators (boda boda riders).

  • Accessibility Validation:Quality assurance relies on human-in-the-loop evaluation strategies. We combine automated accessibility auditing tools (such as axe-core) with manual testing executed directly by visually impaired scholars using screen readers to guarantee WCAG 2.1 AA compliance.
  • Automotive Testing:The safety protocols are validated through controlled roadworthiness testing of the accredited vehicles, actively measuring stopping distances, suspension performance, and structural integrity under load.
  • Participatory Metrics:Success is not measured purely by software latency, but by community-defined participatory metrics: dignity preservation, restored academic agency, and enhanced physical security for both passengers and drivers.

Implementation Methodology: How to Pilot With Us

For universities, estates departments, and institutional partners in Uganda, adopting a new transit technology requires a structured, low-risk implementation pathway. We execute a comprehensive 12-week institutional pilot program prior to full deployment:

1. Baseline Spatial Auditing (Weeks 1-3)

We conduct rigorous spatial audits of the campus topography alongside the institution's estates and security departments to map severe accessibility barriers (unpaved terrain, staircases) and define the parameters for our dynamic routing optimization.

2. Stakeholder Onboarding & Fleet Formalization (Weeks 4-6)

We recruit and onboard the pilot cohort of local informal transport operators. They undergo formal automotive safety training, digital vehicle inspections, and respectful passenger assistance workshops.

3. Controlled Field Testing (Weeks 7-9)

The platform is deployed within the geofenced campus perimeter. Students book rides, drivers execute dispatches, and administrators monitor live telemetry via the security dashboard.

4. Impact Reporting & Scale Recommendation (Weeks 10-12)

We synthesize field data into targeted policy briefs and impact reports. We evaluate the pilot against baseline metrics to recommend structural mobility reforms and outline the transition to a paid institutional deployment.

Product Roadmap: Disciplined Growth

eSafeRIDE is executing a deliberate, staged delivery plan to move from concept to production-ready ecosystem.

  • Now (Prototype & Spatial Mapping):Establishing the Diverse Mobility User Committee. Executing spatial audits of Makerere University. Engineering the core modified Dijkstra algorithm for accessibility-weighted routing.
  • Next (Pilot Deployment & Fleet Accreditation):Launching the cross-platform MVP (Minimum Viable Product). Executing formal driver accreditation. Integrating MTN Mobile Money and Airtel Money payment gateways for cashless transaction processing and revenue formalization.
  • Future (Institutional Integration & Regional Scale): Full system handover to Makerere University Estates and Disability Support Units. Scaling the multi-tenant architecture to additional Ugandan institutions. Opening APIs for integration with municipal transport data to support wider urban inclusive mobility.
